Olympic Sport Taekwondo
Overview
Taekwondo
is one of the fastest growing Olympic sports in the world! Since debuting
in the Olympics as a full sport in 2000, and 1992 as a demonstration sport,
USA Taekwondo has reached a new level of popularity. At the 2008 Olympics in
Beijing, taekwondo reached its highest ever level of interest in the US
largely driven by Houston TX's own Lopez Family. With no less than three
siblings competing in the Olympics, and Steven Lopez already winning gold in
2000 and 2004, there was unprecedented excitement about the 2008
competition.
